Total eclipse and Yellowstone National Park

Great American Eclipse and Yellowstone N.P. and more
August 17 – 23 2017

Description of Workshop:

Join Joe Cosentino, Sonny Portacio  in eastern Idaho for a week of photography, leading up to the main event of the Greta American Eclipse.  We have chosen Eastern Idaho because this is the area of the country with the best chance of having clear skies at the time of the eclipse. We are not just going to be waiting for Monday August 21st to come along, we are planning a week of photography in several locations. As a group we will staying about 30 minutes from the western gate to Yellowstone National Park, Can’t pass up a great opportunity to photograph in one of our most famous National parks. If you are looking for an unusual place to get some beautiful photographs we will be heading to the Craters of the moon National Monument.

If you have an interest in flash photography our housing arrangement will allow us to set up a studio where you can try out off camera flash with models. Learn how to control ambient light and get proper flash exposure on your subject.

The main event – on the day of the Eclipse we will travel to a remote location where we will have a 360 degree view of the sky. With this view you will witness the colors of a 360 degree sunset, during totality.  Eclipse glass will be provided for our participants.  Solar filters will be available for your camera so you can capture the shadow of the moon as it moves across the suns surface.  For more information on the Eclipse check out this web site

Housing: We have a  large waterfront cabin located in a Lakefront – gated community.  This gorgeous lakefront cabin welcomes you with a large family/dining/kitchen area overlooking the water, with adjoining great room. Walk out to a beautiful covered/open deck that leads to the lake with your own private bay. Upstairs has a huge play/family/media area.  All surrounded by private trees, walkways, and mother nature.

We will be sharing the house and be able to cook some meals in house saving money on expenses, this arrangement will give us the opportunity to talk photography when ever you want, our class time will be held in the media area. There is plenty of space to have time to yourself.

A WORD ON INSURANCE
You are strongly advised to arrange the following insurance:

Travel Insurance — If you fall sick or have an accident or fall ill during the course of the trip, you will miss part of your tour, and hospital fees and other expenses can be expensive. We strongly advise you to take out travel insurance for yourself for the entire length of the trip in advance of departure
Cancellation Insurance — This is often included in your Travel Insurance, but if for any reason you have to cancel your tour after the refund cut-off dates, cancellation insurance can help you recuperate your costs
Camera Equipment Insurance — We also suggest that you insure your photography equipment and belongings if not included in your home or travel insurance. If you already have your gear insured, double check that you are covered for international travel too, if you are visiting Iceland from another country

Note about physical fitness: You must be able to carry your camera gear and tripod on short walks.

After booking: You will be provided with a recommended gear list and general information about where we will be photographing. You will also be sent a registration form and a liability release form.
