Joe was an early adopter of digital photography and has passion for both photography and teaching. He loves to teach others how to improve their photography skills. Joe is a Certified Professional Photographer with the Professional Photographers of America and a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography.

He has studied photography under several well known landscape, architectural, portrait and outdoor photographers including Charlie Borland, Bryan Peterson, Deborah Sandidge, Kathleen Clemons, Randy Van Duinen, Rob Sylvan, Jim Zuckerman, William Neill, and Tim Volmer.

He is the owner/operator of Open Road Studio and Cosentino Studio located in Whitesboro, NY which features a wide ranging portfolio of portrait, landscape, commercial, and contemporary fine art styles.

Sonny Portacio


Sonny can be described as a Creative who loves to explore, loves to learn and loves to teach. A born educator, Sonny has an M.A. in Educational Technology and has taught at a California University for over 10 years. He and his wife produce the world famous PodCacher podcast which focuses on the game of Geocaching (ask him more about that).

A native San Diegan, Sonny has been capturing memorable images for over 30 years. From his early days developing prints in darkrooms to the mastery of digital tools, he’s always had a passion to bring out the best from every image.

A professional working photographer, Sonny is the owner of Captured Vision Photography, a local San Diego business that specializes in event, wedding, portrait and landscape photography. Sonny is also the owner of Pocket Lenses, a website devoted to teaching photography techniques and skills.
